The “no makeup” makeup look has been extremely popular in the past few months. However, most of the non-beauty junkies out there are probably thinking we’re all crazy!
I personally love the artistry of applying makeup and the possibilities to create new looks that enhance my natural features. It’s also a nice self-confidence boost when you’re having an off day, but wearing a full face of makeup 24/7 is not realistic for anyone. Unless maybe you’re Kim K with a full on 24/7 glam squad!
All jokes aside, I think all skin needs some time off from my makeup and have been embracing my natural features more and more often. I’ve been gravitating towards simpler looks, and have fallen in love with this two product “no makeup” makeup routine. It’s perfect when you want your natural features to shine through, but just want an extra finishing touch.
My go to “no makeup” makeup look aka natural beauty utilizes two products:
Here’s what I love about this routine and the products:
It’s simple, can’t get much more simple than only using two products! It’s easy and requires zero makeup skills. The products are high quality, good for your skin, and look fabulous on anyone.
The PF face powder comes with a sponge so you can literally buy and apply. You just swipe across your entire face and you’re good to go. For an extra flawless finish, I sometimes use my elf powder foundation brush to even out the coverage (pictured below). It’s full coverage, but does allow your natural features to shine through (especially my freckles!). It spreads evenly and naturally. Probably the best part of this powder foundation is the ingredients it’s made with. It’s from a very trusted brand, Physician’s Formula, formulated to be: hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, talc-free dermatologist recommendation, and non-comedogenic.
According to Benefit, this mascara is “A roller for lashes! The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls…while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours.”
After several uses of this highly anticipated mascara, I have nothing but good things to say. It’s different than the usual volume I gravitate towards – volume, volume, volume! My lashes are naturally long and curly, but there’s something about this formula that just adds that extra ‘wow’ factor. It’s a very natural look, hence being the perfect “no makeup” mascara. It separates, lengthens, and curls your lashes to perfection resembling an amplified version of your natural lashes.
The bristles on the wand are very short, allowing for extremely detailed application and the patented “hook ‘n roll” technique that is advertised with the mascara. I have to admit, this is one of the only mascaras I’ve ever used where one coat really does the job. I tend to put on two, because I’m a mascara junkie. 😉 However, the formula doesn’t demand for that.
The staying power of this formula is superb, no smudging for hours and the curl holds up extremely well. If you’re going for an extra dramatic, voluminous lash look then this mascara probably isn’t for you, but it’s not meant for that look.
