Costco Aspires to be a Beauty Destination

  • Costco has teamed up with beauty experts in nail, hair, skin and face products. According to the May 2014 addition of Costco Connection, the retailer has teamed up with nail artist Jenna Hip, hair designer Orlando Pita, dermatologist Jessica Wu, and makeup artist Pati Dubroff. These experts were hand-selected by Costco buyers (I’m wondering how Costco went about this?) to bring upscale beauty to Costco via the “Beauty’s Most Wanted” campaign. I don’t have a Costco membership, but now I may reconsider 😉

Maybelline Launches New Volum’Express Mascara

  • Beginning June 2014, Maybelline will introduce Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara by Volum’Express. According to Maybelline, this will be “Our biggest mascara brush yet with the double curved stem delivers a double shot of mascara. Smoother formula with double the collagen plumps without clumps. Pumped up volume up to 16X with the first double shot brush that scoops up an extra shot of plumping formula for the most pumped up volumizing lashes ever.” It’s set to retail around $8.

Softlips Launches Lip Cubes

  • The cube consists of a dome-shaped balm that delivers a 5-in-1 formula to hydrate, replenish, smooth, protect with SPF 15 and add a subtle sheen to lips. It will retail for around $3.50 in these 3 flavors: Softlips Pomegranate Blueberry, Softlips Fresh Mint and Softlips Vanilla Bean. It’s very similar to Eos, but in a glass see through cube package.

Julep Launches First Customizable Subscription Beauty Box

  •  Starting this month, Julep is launching the first customizable subscription box. This customizable subscritption tiers includes “My Maven” and “Maven Luxe.” These opt-in programs are completely optional, but cost more per month. In the past, you’ve been stuck with whatever selections the subscription service chose for you. Now, you can swap in and out products for new or bestselling items. “We want women to engage with us each month,” said Jane Park, CEO and founder of Julep. “With this new service, we’re bringing the beauty counter experience to our community of Maven subscribers; letting them actively engage in product selection so they receive exactly the combination of monthly products that works for them.” The box options range from $20-$40/month depending your on subscription.
